GUIDE - JOIN US ONLINE

Kartoffeldansk offers you the option of joining all lessons online. Groups sessions therefore also have a hybrid setup with some students in-person and some online.

All online lessons are via Microsoft Teams. The "whiteboard" in this setup is a Word document, which the teacher works in during the lesson.

To get the full experience, we have setup this guide for you so you can get the best experience possible when joining our group lessons online.

Three tips before joining online

Video camera: please, have your video camera turned on. It makes it easier for the teacher and the others students to communicate with you and for you to have a personal connection with the group.

Microsoft Teams: We recommend you to download the Microsoft Teams app to your computer before class. This offers more settings and a better experience.

Sound: In some setups, it's sufficient for you to just use your computer for sound but for some, a good headset works well. Also, if you are in a noisy place please mute your microphone when you're not speaking.

TIPS FOR MICROSOFT TEAMS

You may already have experience with Microsoft Teams, however we still have some recommendations for you when joining online.

"Pop-out": When you join a Teams meeting and someone shares a file/screen you can now choose to have two windows - one with the video/camera feed from participants and another with the file/screen that is shared. Select the "pop-out" bottom in the top menu of Teams and you can adjust how big/small the different windows should be on your screen.

"Fit to frame": Teams crops some videos to fit your screen better. However, this may crop out some of the feed from the classroom, as the video has a horizontal angle. However, you can change the setup. Right click on the video feed and select "Fit to frame" to see the entire video. Now, you have a horizontal view on the classroom and can see everything that's going on.

"Pin". To focus on the video from the classroom when other students participate online in group sessions, use the "pin" option. Right-click on the video you'd like to focus on or click on the three dots next to the name on the participant list. Select "pin".

Please, let us know if you have any trouble with your online lessons. And have a good lesson!
