THE DANISH EDUCATION

Three different Danish educations

Danish education 1: for people, who have very little education from their homecountries and may need to learn the Latin alphabet first.


Danish education 2: for people, who have some education from their home country and master some level of English. The final test for Danish Education 2 is called the PD2 and can e.g., be used when applying for permanent residency and Danish citizenship. 


Danish education 3: for people with an academic background and a high level of English. A passed module 5 exam (PD3) can e.g., be used when applying for permanent residency and Danish citizenship. 

The levels

Kartoffeldansk follows the CEFR levels - the Common European Framework of Reference. The majority of our students are accepted to Danish Education 3, which is why our groups are divided accordingly. Here you can read a bit more about the different levels. 


Every level takes about 5-6 months when joining a class at Kartoffeldansk. 

A1 - Complete beginner's level


At this level, you will build a basic understanding of the Danish language and you will master everyday language acts, basic grammar and vocabulary.

Subjects are e.g., personal presentation, everyday life, family, accomodation, food, the weather are hobbies. 

This is also called module 3.1 in some schools. 

B1 - intermediate 


You can now have more complex interactions in Danish. At this level, you will work on building a bigger vocabulary and making more complex connections. 


Subjects are e.g., experiences, ways of living, cities, Danish politics + you will work with grammar at a higher level as well as conjunctions. 


This is also called module 3.4 in some schools. 


A2 - Advanced beginner


At this level, you will build on your skills from A1 and build a more complex vocabulary. 

Subjects are e.g., work & education, immigration to and your view on Denmark, geography and climate, holidays and traditions, fairy tales. 


This is also called module 3.2 in some schools. 

B2 - upper intermediate


This is traditionally the final level of Danish education 3, preparing you for the PD3 exam. At this level, you have a certain degree of fluency. You can discuss various subjects in Danish and the primary focus is perfecting your grammar and bulding your vocabulary. 


Subjects are e.g., psychology, transportation, health, politics and Danish norms. At this level, you will also have a certain focus on the final exam. 


This is also called module 3.5 in some schools. 


A2+ - pre-intermediate


At this level, your language will become more complex and you will have a more full language. 

Subjects are e.g., work, Danish art and culture, gender equality, happiness and the environment. 



This is also called module 3.3 in some schools. 

C1 - advanced


When you have passed the PD3 exam, a lot of people still don't feel completely confident e.g., speaking Danish. Therefore, we offer classes with focus on e.g., pronunciation, building vocabulary, grammar, writing and what else you need. Usually, there's a lot of focus on speaking Danish and building your confidence in this regard. 


The focus of these classes depend completely on your needs and what you find challenging with the Danish language.
